The best things are often free. Neighborhood Watch is a free program that connects neighbors to support a safer community. Knowing your neighbors is the key. Starting a Watch group provides an opportunity for you to meet new neighbors and reconnect with others.
Residential crime often occurs when people from outside a community target the quiet, well-kept streets of another. A proactive group of residents who know their neighbors will be quicker to notice when something is unusual or out of place and make a call for service.

Complementing the City’s ongoing efforts to inform and engage the community, Mayor Wendy Bucknum will host a Town Hall meeting on September 27.
The meeting will highlight Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch, two valuable safety programs offered by Mission Viejo Police Services.
Citizens and business owners will gain an understanding of the benefits of these programs; have the chance to ask questions; and learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch program or enroll in Business Watch.
Tis the season to give, but it's also the ideal time for criminals to prey on innocent victims.
Unfortunately, crimes of opportunity happen more around the holidays, so staying alert is essential. To keep you and your family safe, Mission Viejo Police Services is offering these safety tips for when you're at home and away.
Along with these important tips, be sure your neighborhood is part of the department's free Neighborhood Watch program.
