Lord of the Strings will present "Slackers in Paradise" with Jim Kimo West and Ken Emerson, living legends in the world of Hawaiian slack key and acoustic steel guitar. The concert is at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.

Joe Robinson, a guitar phenom who won "Australia's Got Talent," will amaze music aficionados when he takes the Mission Viejo stage on April 14.

Since being named the 2008 winner of "Australia's Got Talent," Joe Robinson has been proving why he deserved to be the victor, touring across the world, showing off his amazing guitar and vocal skills, accompanying the music he spends hours writing.
Two-time Grammy-winning guitar sensation Laurence Juber will make a special appearance in the Lord of the Strings concert on Saturday, March 3. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Community members are invited to a free screening of the biographical film "Lion" on Sunday, January 21 in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.
Sponsored by the Mission Viejo Community of Character, the film event starts at 2 p.m. and coincides with this month's character trait of "perseverance."
"Lion" was released in 2016 and received six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress (Nicole Kidman) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Book lovers rejoice! Fun and engaging Penguin Random House representatives Wade Lucas and Steve Atinsky will discuss the newest book releases for avid readers, book-club groups and holiday gifts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5 in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

A popular pop/vocal jazz band that has graced the world’s biggest stages will perform a special concert in Mission Viejo on Saturday, December 2.
The Black Market Trust will perform at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The Community Services Commission will host its next public meeting on January 16 after canceling its November 21 meeting.
The commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council and staff regarding the development and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities; adult and youth recreation services; senior citizen and human services; and cultural and fine arts services.
The commission usually meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.
