The Community Services Commission will host its next public meeting on January 16 after canceling its November 21 meeting.

The commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council and staff regarding the development and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities; adult and youth recreation services; senior citizen and human services; and cultural and fine arts services.

The commission usually meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

The City Council on Tuesday, November 14 will host the first of five public hearings to discuss the City's interest in and the process for transitioning from at-large to district-based council member elections.
 
The meeting begins at 6 p.m., with the hearing starting sometime thereafter, in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
 

Jeff Peterson, a guitar guru who has played with the likes of Eric Clapton and Boz Scaggs, will grace the Mission Viejo stage when he performs on Saturday, November 4.

Jeff will appear in the popular Lord of the Strings concert that kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Mission Viejo City Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.

The public is invited to a screening of the dramatic film "Forrest Gump" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 15 in the Council Chamber at Mission Viejo City Hall.

Sponsored by the Mission Viejo Community of Character Committee, the film presentation mirrors Mission Viejo's character trait of "respect."

"Forrest Gump" was released in 1994 and became the top-grossing film in North America that year. The movie won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing.

The Mission Viejo stage will come alive with the sensational sounds of guitar greats Loren Barrigar and Mark Mazengarb.
 
The musicians will perform in the next Lord of the Strings concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 30 in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
 

Complementing the City’s ongoing efforts to inform and engage the community, Mayor Wendy Bucknum will host a Town Hall meeting on September 27.

The meeting will highlight Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch, two valuable safety programs offered by Mission Viejo Police Services. 

Citizens and business owners will gain an understanding of the benefits of these programs; have the chance to ask questions; and learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch program or enroll in Business Watch.

One of the premier guitar ensembles will grace the Mission Viejo stage in a special performance on Saturday, August 26.

As part of an ongoing effort to inform and engage the community, the City of Mission Viejo will host a Town Hall meeting on public safety on Monday, February 27.

The meeting will cover current crime trends in Mission Viejo and the region along with essential information about Neighborhood Watch, fire safety, crime prevention and emergency preparedness.

Citizens and business owners will have the chance to ask questions and learn valuable safety and emergency preparedness tips.

Two of the best fingerstyle guitarists on the planet will grace the Mission Viejo stage on Saturday, December 3. That’s when legendary acoustic guitarist Peppino D' Agnostino and fingerpicking master Richard Smith perform together for the first time for a special fan appreciation and holiday show.
