Saddleback College is celebrating its golden anniversary by asking alumni and former faculty to share their stories about this special facility that has served south Orange County for five decades.

Saddleback College will begin a new chapter in its history on Monday, March 12 when it breaks ground on a new stadium.

The new sports complex will feature 8,000 seats, a nine-lane running track, two turf football practice fields and a soccer field, thrower’s park, concession stand, viewing platform, storage area, modern press box, team meeting rooms, state-of-the-art scoreboard, sound system and more. 

Get ready to dance the night away when the “Big Band Swing Thing” performs on Friday, March 9 at the Saddleback College McKinney Theater, 28000 Marguerite Parkway.

The play is the thing!  Back by popular demand, Shakespeare by the Sea returns to Saddleback College to perform two ageless works, “Macbeth” on July 15 and “The Taming of the Shrew” on July 16.

Proudly presented by the City of Mission Viejo, Mission Viejo Friends of the Arts, and the Saddleback College Department of Theatre Arts as a part of their Summer of Theater, both plays start each night at 7:30 p.m., with festival seating beginning at 6 p.m. on the Upper Campus Quad.

The countdown is underway until Relay For Life of Mission Viejo takes step June 3-4 at Saddleback College.

Individuals and teams are still sought to take part in this fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs. During Relay For Life, team members will take turns walking or running laps. At nightfall, hundreds of luminaries are lit in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle to the disease. The event runs from 9 a.m. Saturday, June 3 to 9 a.m. the following day.

Registration is now available for free summer art classes available through the Veterans Art Project at Saddleback College.

The Veterans Art Project is an innovative ceramics program designed to give veterans an outlet for creativity. It's a grant-funded 10-session program for military veterans, active duty personnel, their spouses and kids 11 and older.

The fun sessions take place Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 5 through August 7 at 28000 Marguerite Parkway.

In a charming afternoon performance, the Saddleback College Choirs will present “A Choral Romp Through the Renaissance and Right Now” on Sunday, March 19. 

Under the direction of Dr. Scott Farthing, the talented Saddleback College Community Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform works from the past to the present.  The performance takes place at 2:30 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre at 28000 Marguerite Parkway.

Saddleback College is gearing up to host saxophonist and composer Walter Smith III on Saturday, February 25.
 
The extraordinary musician will join the college’s Big Band on the McKinney Theater stage at 7 p.m.
 

Saddleback College's art degree program has been ranked among the top associate degree programs in the country. 

The program was just listed in the annual rankings for the 2016-2017 Best Two-Year Art Degree Programs in the Nation by the Community for Accredited Online Schools, a leading resource for online learning and college accreditation information. The impressive ranking for Saddleback's Art Department includes 1st in Orange County, 5th in California and 20th in the nation.

The Saddleback College Big Band will delight folks of all ages when it performs a special concert on Saturday, December 10.

Under the direction of Joey Sellers, this outstanding ensemble performs its Holiday Jazz Concert at 6:30 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre at 28000 Marguerite Parkway.
