Is your child the fastest kid in town? On Saturday, June 9, he or she will have a chance to earn forever bragging rights in a new community event designed to encourage kids to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

The City, Mission Viejo Rotary Club and Mission Viejo Reporter are teaming up to host the free “Fastest Kid in Town Race” at noon during the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life at Oso Viejo Community Park.

Get ready to double down for a good cause on Saturday, April 21 when Casino Night for a Cure transforms the Norman P. Murray Community Center into a gambler’s paradise from 6:30-10:30 p.m.

Benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of South Orange County, your $65 ticket includes a delectable dinner by Outback Steakhouse; $200 in play money; a drink ticket for wine or beer; and fabulous raffle prizes.

Ready to roll the dice for a good cause? Make plans for Casino Night for a Cure on Saturday, April 21 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

If you are interested in joining an incredible cause aimed at celebrating and saving lives, make plans for the Relay For Life of South Orange County "Kick-off Celebration" on Sunday, February 11. The celebration is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Audi Mission Viejo, 28451 Marguerite Pkwy.

If you are seeking a fun way to give back, consider joining the planning team for the 2018 Relay For Life of Mission Viejo.

An Event Leadership Team Committee meeting is set for 6 p.m. on October 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

The countdown is underway until Relay For Life of Mission Viejo takes step June 3-4 at Saddleback College.

Individuals and teams are still sought to take part in this fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs. During Relay For Life, team members will take turns walking or running laps. At nightfall, hundreds of luminaries are lit in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle to the disease. The event runs from 9 a.m. Saturday, June 3 to 9 a.m. the following day.

Help strike out cancer by joining the “Reach for the Stars… Find a Cure” Relay Team on Sunday, March 26 at Saddleback Lanes.

Participants will enjoy two hours of unlimited bowling from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with shoe rentals for $20. Bowlers will receive 20 percent off food and drink. Donations will support the American Cancer Society.

With rain in the forecast this weekend, the 9th annual Rally for Life Tennis Tournament has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 2. 

City staff is in the process of contacting folks who’ve already registered to confirm their ability to play on the rescheduled date. People who would still like to take part in this exciting round-robin doubles event can register through March 29.
