MV Shuttle Service resumes Aug. 20

MV Shuttle

All aboard the MV Shuttle!  From the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink train station to Lake Mission Viejo and many places in between, the MV Shuttle gets you where you want to go for FREE.  The convenient service, which resumes on August 20, transports folks to The Shops at Mission Viejo, Mission Hospital, Saddleback College, Capistrano Valley High School, Norman P. Murray Community Center, City Hall/library, YMCA/Marguerite Aquatics/Tennis Center and other locations.

Two new stops have been added including at the Mission Viejo Library/City Hall, so folks no longer must walk from the stops on La Paz Road and Marguerite Parkway. Another new stop is located at The Shops in front of the play place entrance (between Macy's and Islands Restaurant on the southeast side), eliminating the walk from the stops on Crown Valley Parkway or Medical Center Road. These two stops take place at 10 am after the Mission Viejo Library and mall open.

In addition, during the school year, the shuttle provides an afternoon pick-up at Mission Viejo High School and drop-off route before returning to regular service at City Hall and the library.

This local service provides Mission Viejo residents with a transportation alternative.  Since the shuttles are smaller than typical transit buses and run on compressed natural gas (CNG), they produce far less emissions than conventionally-powered vehicles.

Shuttles run from about 6:30 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday from mid-August to mid-June.  The service is operated in partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) as MV Shuttle Route 182.

The grant which funds the MV Shuttle provides for only two buses so it is not possible to serve all three high schools. The decision to serve CVHS and MVHS was based on their proximity to the regular MV Shuttle route and the number of students residing in Mission Viejo. In addition, THHS is already served by OCTA Route 82. If the MV Shuttle is successful, there are plans to add a vehicle and extend the existing route north, which would include service to THHS.

This is a fantastic service and thank you. I would love to use it, but have to admit that the schedule and stop listing is confusing. It may be me, but it isn't clear what time I should be at my closest stop to catch the shuttle.

As an example, what time should I be at the Felipe / Athens stop to be dropped at the Shops at 10:54?
