This holiday season you can make a difference for injured and orphaned animals at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center by participating in the Dedicated Animal Welfare Group's (DAWG) 2024 Holiday Tree campaign.
Through this special virtual tree, you can honor a cherished pet or give a heartfelt gift to that hard-to-shop-for person in your life.
Mission Viejo Animal Services recently rescued a young dog named Donnie that was about to be euthanized because he was the longest resident at a high-intake shelter.
“We think the staff and volunteers at that shelter really loved this dog, so they kept giving him chances at being adopted,” said Director of Animal Services Brynn Lavison. “Sadly, however, as of November his time was running out, so as soon as we heard about him, we transported him to our center for a second chance at adoption.”
Recently our organization came together to celebrate the remarkable career of our retiring director Michelle Claud-Clemente, whose dedication and vision have led us to countless successes. Staff, volunteers, and community partners joined us to honor Michelle’s profound impact on our mission and the lives she has touched throughout her years of service.
Meet Jasmine, a beautiful 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix. Dutch Shepherds are known for their lively, athletic, and intelligent nature. Originally bred to work as herding dogs, they were also used to watch over children and alert farmers to strangers on the property. Jasmine embodies these traits, showing a natural curiosity and alertness to her surroundings. While she may be a bit shy when meeting new people, she quickly warms up.
The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is hosting the last drive-through low-cost pet vaccination clinic of 2024 from 8:30 to 10 am on Saturday, October 26 at 28095 Hillcrest.
Rabies vaccinations are $12 and other vaccines for dogs and cats are available at reduced rates. A $2 medical disposal fee is charged for each animal. Licenses and current rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs in Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and Laguna Hills. Dogs should be on a leash and cats in carriers.

On September 9, the Airport Fire erupted near Trabuco Canyon prompting Mission Viejo Animal Services (MVAS) to activate its emergency plan. Due to the fire’s proximity to the Robinson Ranch community, MVAS quickly prepared by placing Animal Control Officers on standby and readying rescue equipment.
In times of crisis, the smallest gestures often make the biggest difference. Mission Viejo Animal Services (MVAS) recently experienced this firsthand during the Airport Fire, when an outpouring of kindness arrived at our shelter in the form of beautifully handcrafted kennel quilts, each one stitched with care by the volunteers of Kennel Quilts.
Mission Viejo Animal Services (MVAS) is excited to announce its upcoming 30th Anniversary Open House, a community celebration marking three decades of dedication to animal welfare. The event will take place on Saturday October 5 from noon to 4 pm at the center located at 28095 Hillcrest.
