Mark your calendar for the 3rd Annual Mission Viejo Film Festival from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 at Saddleback College's McKinney Theatre, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy.

The screenings will be based on categories that include "Short Films: High School"; "Short Films: College/Indie"; and viewing of this year's "Music Videos" winner.

Every day, patients require blood or platelets to help fight cancer, to replace what is lost in a trauma or to treat a chronic disease. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.

Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host two blood drives on Thursday, June 7 and Thursday, August 9 from 2-8 p.m. at 26001 Muirlands. Childcare is available to donors between 3 and 5 p.m.

Join the City of Mission Viejo to honor the service and sacrifice of our service men and women during a special Memorial Day ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the Mission Viejo Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

Petty Officer First Class Edward Smith will serve as the keynote speaker, discussing the importance of remembering the people who died while serving in our country's armed forces. He will be joined by Vietnam veteran Frank Pangborn, an author, actor, musician and Orange County Native.

The public is invited to embrace our storied history this Saturday, May 12 during a special Heritage House event at Melinda Park.

The Heritage House "Open House" is from 1-3 p.m. at 28951 Melinda Road. 

The Open House will give folks the chance to celebrate the City of Mission Viejo's 30th anniversary of incorporation by learning about its colorful history - including the first home built in 1966.
