Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, known for its Cajun menu and Louisiana-style fried chicken, is expected to open in Mission Viejo this fall.

The 2,360-square-foot eatery with a drive-through replaced the Mission Viejo Rentals building and storage yard that was demolished late last year. Located near Sonic Burgers at 23462 Los Alisos Boulevard, the fast-food restaurant will be the chain’s first south Orange County location.

The Planning and Transportation Commission gave the green light to Hatam restaurant to expand by 2,270 square feet into a neighboring suite in the Jeronimo Business Park. 

When the tenant-improvement work is finished, the restaurant will occupy 5,830 square feet at 25800 Jeronimo Road.  The restaurant plans also include outdoor seating, live entertainment and the addition of beer and wine.  Hatam features ethnic cuisine from Iran such as kabobs, Khoresht stew, soups, salads, flatbread and pastries.  

The City Council on Tuesday, March 28 will consider approving the Core Area Vision Plan that may ultimately shape the future of the heart of Mission Viejo.

A 6,493-square-foot Spanish restaurant with Flamenco shows would open in the Kaleidoscope, under a proposal the City's Planning and Transportation Commission will consider on Monday, January 9.

Tapas OC plans to leave Newport Beach after 16 years and open in the Mission Viejo entertainment center at 27741 Crown Valley Parkway, Suite 221. The eatery is proposing to serve wine, beer and distilled spirits as well as host live music and dancing.
