The City Council on Tuesday approved enhancements at Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park; the Marguerite Aquatics Complex and received an update on the Core Area Vision Plan, among other business.  

Council Members gave the green light for the installation of new poles and LED light fixtures at Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park on Olympiad Road. The City worked extensively with the sports leagues and surrounding neighbors on the plans for new lighting at the sports fields.

On Friday, July 15, Family Style will get you on your feet for a funky good time. The popular band will perform music from Stevie Wonder, Prince, James Brown, David Bowie, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Santana.

As part of the Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA) efforts to operate a more efficient transit system, a proposed service plan for bus routes is under consideration, impacting  two major routes - 86 and 87 - within the City of Mission Viejo limits.

Registration is now available for the City of Mission Viejo's Junior Lifeguard Training at Montanoso Recreation Center. 

The training is a 5-week course, which takes place as follows: 

Group 1: Tuesdays - July 5-August 2 9 am - 3:30 pm

Group 2: Thursdays - July 7-August 4 9 am - 3:30 pm 

Taught by certified lifeguards, the class builds a foundation of knowledge and skills for future lifeguard employment focused on water safety, drowning prevention, and skills for helping others in the water.

The City is encouraging residents to save on gas and go green by biking to the July 4th Street Faire and Fireworks Spectacular on Independence Day.

To keep your bike safe, bike racks will be provided. The racks will be located at the entrance on Melinda and at the lakeside.

The Mission Viejo City Council on Thursday decided not to move forward with investigating a potential purchase of Village Center property where the CVS store is located on Marguerite Parkway.  

The seller put the Core Area property up for sale to the public and invited the City to make an offer to purchase the property upon which CVS operates.  

With a theme of "Extreme Summer Fun," this year's Symphony in the Cities includes the Children's Musical Playground and Prelude in the Park from 4 to 7 pm followed by the Pacific Symphony concert at 7 pm.
