Silverado High School students are giving back to the community by hosting a food drive on Saturday, August 6 from 9 am to noon.

The goal is to provide support for Mission Viejo students and families experiencing hardships. You can help by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries. Monetary donations can also be made at https://mvcommunityfoundation.org.

If you're looking for extreme summer fun, check out the Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event on Saturday, August 13.

This signature event, which features the Pacific Symphony, is from 4 to 8:30 pm at 24932 Veterans Way.

The City Council on Tuesday honored Orange County Sheriff's Department K-9 "Keto" and his handler Deputy Craig Sanders for their efforts to keep our City safe - as well as other individuals who inspire this community.

The City is planning an array of fun free pop-up activities for the community to enjoy in the North Paseo, nestled in the Village Center at 25282 Marguerite Parkway. 

People of all ages will enjoy live music, displays, arts and crafts, trivia games, fitness and dance classes, and special celebrations like National Lollipop Day. The events are designed to introduce residents to the North Paseo, provide updates on the Civic Core project and connect the community via the Oso Creek Trail. 

Enjoy a shopping extravaganza day and fun, family-friendly night Saturday, July 16 during two events in the Village Center North Paseo at 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

Start your day at the Modern Makers Mart from 10 am to 3 pm with local artisans selling handmade goods like candles, clothes, jewelry, charcuterie boxes and more.

The City launched a new website (https://envisionmv.com) about all the exciting plans to improve connectivity for residents to the many wonderful amenities owned by the City of Mission Viejo as well as to keep the community updated on the Core Area Vision Plan.

The City of Mission Viejo is teaming up with the United Way and OC Realtors to raise awareness of housing insecurities in the region and a program that connects individuals and families holding housing vouchers with local apartment owners. 

The City Council on Tuesday, July 12 will recognize Mission Viejo High School Swimmer Alexis Unter for being selected to the USA Down Syndrome Swimming (USADSS) National Team.  

Alexis will compete at the 10th Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships sponsored by the Down Syndrome International Swimming Organization (DSISO) in Albufeira, Portugal in October. 

"I am so excited to have been selected for the national team," Alexis said. "I can't wait to represent the United States at the World competition." 

If you're looking for some extreme fun and to give back this summer, consider volunteering at the annual Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park on Saturday, August 13 on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park, 24932 Veterans Way.

With a theme of "Extreme Summer Fun," this year's Symphony in the Cities includes the Children's Musical Playground and Prelude in the Park from 4 to 7 pm followed by the concert at 7 pm.
