The City Council on Tuesday recognized outstanding members of the City's adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division; Lucy Dunn as Hometown Hero; and CIF girls softball champions, among other business.   

For their outstanding efforts, Lance Corporal Andres Cervantes was recognized as "Marine of the Quarter" and Sergeant Destiny Dempsey as "Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter."   

The Mission Viejo Nadadores Dive Team is offering free summer dive lessons for low-income, at-risk youth through a special scholarship program.

Funded by a grant through USA Diving, the "Discover a Diver" scholarship awards are based on proof of financial need. The scholarships will provide youth ages 8-18 the unique opportunity to learn the art of diving from the world-renowned Nadadores, which has produced countless Olympians, at the beautiful Marguerite Aquatics Complex. (Participants must be able to swim in deep water.)

Enjoy tasty food samples, drink specials and live music from 3 to 7 pm.

After a two-year hiatus, the July 4th Street Faire and Fireworks Spectacular returns to Mission Viejo on Independence Day. The fun begins at noon on Olympiad between Marguerite and Melinda.

In the wake of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, Secure OC Schools will host a panel discussion on Wednesday, June 8 from 6:30-8 pm in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber. 

The Santa Margarita Water District is continuing to make improvements at its nearly 50-year-old Oso Creek Water Reclamation Plant to make way for a new state-of-the-art water reclamation plant and water treatment facility.
