Community Relations

With the state’s directives for staying at home to stop the spread of COVID-19, not everyone is safer at home. In fact, recent reports suggest domestic abuse cases are on the rise.  However, there are many resources and organizations to help residents experiencing domestic, child and elder abuse.

Here are some to keep in mind:

As health officials recommend residents, especially seniors, stay home to avoid contracting COVID-19, some Mission Viejo grocery stores can be accessed online (Ralphs, Albertsons, Pavilions) and are offering delivery service. Wait times and fees vary by store.

Beginning April 4, the County’s COVID-19 Public Information Hotline and Health Referral Line will take calls from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday and from 8 am to 5 pm during the week.

While you’re staying home to stop the spread of COVID-19, remember to also prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

The County of Orange will follow new state guidelines calling for people to wear face coverings in public.

The California Department of Public Health says people who must leave their homes to conduct essential activities should wear face coverings, if they feel comfortable doing so, and practice strict hand washing before and after touching and adjusting the covering.

Today is Census Day, the day that determines who is counted in the 2020 Census and where they are counted. The U.S. Constitution mandates a census of the population every 10 years. Responding to the 2020 Census is easy, important and key to shaping our future representations and funding until 2030. It’s essential for everyone to be counted.

For the health and safety of the community, the City of Mission Viejo implemented one-way direction along the Oso Creek Lake Loop Trail.

The temporary one-way “clockwise” direction for all bikers, hikers and walkers will be in effect until social distancing guidelines are lifted by state and federal governments.

A new COVID-19 Apple App is now available with a screening tool and resources to help people navigate through the ongoing crisis.

Orange County Community Services has implemented a call center to meet the needs of businesses – including those in Mission Viejo – impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Economic & Business Recovery Call Center, which launched today, will offer information and resources to help Orange County businesses navigate the current economic climate. These resources will support businesses with challenges such as lay-off aversion, loans, utility reduction programs, and community resources mapping.

In an effort to help older residents during this coronavirus crisis, the City of Mission Viejo has compiled the “COVID-19 Senior Resources” guide.
