Josh Stevens – a singer-songwriter who has worked with Calvin Harris, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull – will encourage Mission Viejo youth to stay drug-free during the annual Walk Against Drugs on Saturday, October 21.

Mission Viejo Police Services and the City are giving community members the chance to destroy their sensitive documents on Saturday, September 9. The free drive-through document shredding event is from 8 a.m. to noon in the Mission Viejo High School parking lot at 25025 Chrisanta Drive.

Identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the nation, and shredding documents with personal or financial information can be an effective measure of prevention.

The Orange County Sheriff’s DUI Enforcement Team will hold a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint this weekend in Mission Viejo to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers as part of the department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign. 

The checkpoint is from 7 p.m. Friday, August 18 to 3 a.m. Saturday, August 19.

Police are seeking additional victims of Mission Viejo massage parlor owner Qing Dai, 40, who was arrested Thursday following allegations he sexually assaulted a 37-year-old woman at Sunny's Massage on Alicia Parkway.

In May, deputies took a report from a woman who said she was sexually assaulted while having a massage at Sunny's Massage.  The victim alleged Dai, working as a massage therapist, sexually assaulted her at Sunny's Massage. He is the listed owner of the business.

The nonprofit South County Outreach will be on hand with food bins during this annual interactive community fair from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 25601 Jeronimo Road. National Night Out celebrates our safe community while fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. Mission Viejo Police Services is partnering with Target once again to host the fair.

Mission Viejo businesses are invited to a free training designed to protect them from cyber-attacks.

Registration is now available for the specialized training that takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 10 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

DUI Saturation Patrols will deploy from 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, to 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests in the cities of Mission Viejo and Lake Forest.

In recognition of May as National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, Mission Viejo Police Services is reminding drivers and riders alike to be alert and aware of their surroundings and practice safety while on the road.

According to the most recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 5,000 motorcyclists were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2015 — an 8 percent increase from the previous year. During that same year, about 88,000 motorcyclists were injured.

A Mission Viejo sergeant is OK after a wrong-way driver hit and totaled his police vehicle Sunday night.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. while the sergeant was heading northbound on Trabuco Road between Alicia and Los Alisos. He suddenly swerved right to avoid a head-on collision with an elderly motorist driving on the wrong side of the road. The driver clipped the left side of the patrol unit, causing it to spin out of control and land about 100 feet from impact on the east sidewalk of Trabuco Road.
