Mission Viejo residents and businesses can destroy their sensitive documents during the free drive-through Document Shredding event on Saturday, October 1.

Hosted by Waste Management and the City's Public Works Department, the event is from 9 to 11 am (or until truck capacity is reached) in the Mission Viejo City Hall parking lot at 200 Civic Center.

The City and Waste Management are teaming up to host a free composting workshop at 10 am on Saturday, October 29 in The Kershaw Garden at Mission Viejo City Hall. The workshop will be between an hour to an hour and 30 minutes.

Residents can learn how to turn their yard and food waste into organic fertilizer through traditional composting or vermi-composting. Compost and vermi-composting containers will be available for Mission Viejo residents to purchase or order at a significant discount.

The City is partnering with Waste Management to host a free drive-through E-Waste & Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, November 2 from 9 to 11 am in the City Hall parking lot. This event will provide residents with a free, safe and convenient way to properly dispose of hazardous items.

In line with the new school year, the MV Shuttle began its sixth year of service to the community this week. 

From the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink train station to Lake Mission Viejo and many places in between, the MV Shuttle gets folks where they want to go for free.   

Southbound I-5 between El Toro Road and Alicia Parkway will be closed August 2 from 11 pm to 5 am as part of the freeway widening project to accommodate installation of concrete girders at Los Alisos Boulevard.

Similarly, northbound I-5 between Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road will be closed August 3 from 11 pm to 5 am, according to the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).
