The number of sidewalk food vendors popping up in Mission Viejo – and cities across the State – continues to grow; however, cities like Mission Viejo are limited by how they can regulate them.

The City and Waste Management are teaming up to host a free composting workshop at 10 am on Saturday, April 16 in The Kershaw Garden.

Residents can learn how to turn their yard and food waste into organic fertilizer through traditional composting or vermi-composting. Compost and vermi-composting containers will be available for Mission Viejo residents to purchase or order at a significant discount.

Mission Viejo residents and businesses can destroy their sensitive documents during the free drive-through Document Shredding event on Saturday, March 26.

Hosted by Waste Management and the City's Public Works Department, the event is from 9 to 11 am (or until truck capacity is reached) in the Mission Viejo City Hall parking lot at 200 Civic Center.

The City of Mission Viejo is hosting its annual Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration with a planting and Green Expo from 8 am to noon on Saturday, April 23.

Volunteers will have the chance to embrace nature by planting trees and shrubs at Upper Oso Creak Trail by the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. Participants should wear a hat, gloves, boots and sunscreen. Lunch and ice cream will be available for volunteers while supplies last.
