The new Senior Leadership Committee is seeking donations of new or gently used jewelry and accessories for its first annual summertime Second Time Around Jewelry Sale that benefits senior services at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.  

Donations of any type of jewelry are sought like rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings as well as: 

The City of Mission Viejo is hosting a Drop-and-Go Food and Toiletry Collection Drive from 9-noon on Saturday, March 18 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.  

The drive-through, drop-off event will benefit the Student Marketplace at Silverado High School, which supports local students and their families experiencing difficult living circumstances and other hardships.

Addie is a freshman at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She specializes is songwriting, performance and music production. Luke is a senior at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA). He is a member of the school’s elite performance team “Montage” which travels throughout California to represent OCSA.

The Mission Viejo Diversity + Inclusion Task Force is encouraging local youth to participate in the annual Youth Speak Writing Competition, a county-wide search for top human relations speeches presented by middle and high school students.  Cash prizes are available for first ($500), second ($300) and third-place ($200) winners.  

The Mission Viejo Diversity + Inclusion Task Force is seeking applications from organizations, clubs and businesses interested in participating in a multicultural event on April 22 at the North Paseo, 25282 Marguerite Parkway. 

The event, which will take place from 5-8 pm, will celebrate the community with various educational booths, food, and entertainment.  Educational and activity booths are free for organizations highlighting a unique culture. Commercial booths that complement the event’s theme are also available for $40 per booth space.  

The Mission Viejo Diversity + Inclusion Task Force is partnering with Baly Ha Na to offer a unique music program supporting middle and high school students called Power of Music.  

The Power of Music program was developed in response to the Columbine High School shooting and includes many lifetime skills necessary to manage difficult emotions in a healthy, collaborative way. 

This six-session course and recording studio experience will assist students with the following:

Montanoso fitness instructor Sarah will challenge your strength and cardio with a HIIT Circuit class designed to make you sweat.

The class is FREE to the public. Participants should bring a mat, towel, and water and visit the check-in booth before class. The class takes place in the open grass space on the Oso Creek Trail by the Celebration Garden, below the World Cup Fields near the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
