Safe Schools Challenge

In an effort to engage our City's youth, Mission Viejo Police Services is excited to announce the Safe Schools Challenge 2 in Mission Viejo! We will be calling on students to be stewards of safety through fun and imaginative videos.

The "Safe Schools Challenge" is a creative, friendly and socially interactive competition designed to empower students to create safer campuses. Students are challenged to create a video, 55 seconds or less, about campus safety that could include topics like anti-bullying; saying no to drugs, alcohol and smoking; cyber or campus safety; having good character; mental-health awareness; reporting suspicious activity and others related to creating a safer school environment.

Students are encouraged to tap their creative sides for the videos by coming up with scenarios and solutions for their topics.  Teachers and administrators at each school will select the winning group's video. With the hashtag #SafeSchoolsMV, the winning videos will then be posted to Mission Viejo Police Services' Facebook and Instagram pages, and the victorious classrooms (or groups) will receive a pizza party with your deputies compliments of our local businesses. The videos will also be rated by a panel of city employees on the message, originality, creativity and production. Please review the rules and voting details below.

"We're excited to launch this new challenge - a partnership with the City, Sheriff's Department, Saddleback Valley Unified and Capistrano Unified School Districts as well as our community - to promote ideas that enhance school safety through a fun, innovative and all-inclusive challenge," said Lt. Quyen Vuong, Chief of Mission Viejo Police Services.
