Mission Viejo

The Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Business Expo on Thursday, September 21 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Saddleback College Life Science Quad at 28000 Marguerite Parkway.  

The event is free for the public and includes complimentary food samples from local eateries. The Business Expo gives restaurants and businesses the opportunity to showcase their fare, goods and services to the community. 

City of Mission Viejo staff will also be on hand with a host of community information.  

The City of Mission Viejo in partnership with many local nonprofit organizations launched a community-wide effort to help a middle school in a small Texas seaside town that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
 
Port Aransas is a city on Mustang Island on the Texas coast. It's known for its Gulf of Mexico beaches and fish-filled waterways. Port Aransas was among those cities, where the storm roared ashore with 130 mph winds and wreaked havoc on everything from homes to boats to businesses and Brundrett Middle School.

Southern California Edison (SCE) is performing routine electrical maintenance this week that will cause two temporary power outages impacting hundreds of Mission Viejo homes.

The first planned outage is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 on the north side of Trabuco Road to about 840 feet west of Modesto. It will impact 112 residences and two businesses.

If you embraced “Seinfeld,” flannel shirts and the decade of “Pulp Fiction,” then make plans for ‘90s Pop Culture Trivia on September 29.

Sport your slap bracelets and plaid shirts and head to the Civic Center Saddleback Room at 6 p.m. for two hours of nostalgic bliss.

The trivia will test your fondness for that decade that brought us No Doubt, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and Beanie Babies. Prizes will be awarded for the top scoring teams.

The City of Mission Viejo’s Public Services Department is having a banner year with facilitating Eagle Scout projects designed to benefit our environment.

If you have a passion for all things roses, then make plans for the Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain’s next meeting on Monday, September 11.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Santa Margarita Water District, 26111 Antonio Parkway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The October 6 deadline is quickly approaching for your chance to nominate a hero for Male and Female Veterans of the Year.  These are folks who bravely served our country and continue to serve our community by giving back. Indeed, they are heroes.

We launched this program in 2011 to celebrate local veterans from all wars and conflicts. Since then, veteran honorees have been recognized during our annual Veterans Day ceremony.
