The Mission Viejo City Council has addressed misinformation presented or discussed on various social media sites stemming from a recent flier circulated throughout town regarding the future vision for the City’s core area.

The countdown is underway to the 2017 Mission Viejo Arts Alive Festival. This dynamic event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 at the Oso Viejo Community Park on the Village Green and neighboring Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

In an effort to better serve local veterans and members of the armed forces, the City of Mission has expanded veteran services at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Individuals can now learn about benefits and other services with a VA representative on the second Wednesday of the month beginning April 12. Appointments are available between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. by calling 949-470-3062.

The Community Services Commission will host its next public meeting on May 16 after canceling its April 18 meeting.

The commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council and staff regarding the development and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities; adult and youth recreation services; senior citizen and human services; and cultural and fine arts services. 

The commission usually meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department's DUI Enforcement Team will deploy this weekend to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers from 7 p.m. Friday, April 7 through 3 a.m. Saturday, April 8 in Mission Viejo and Lake Forest.

High-visibility enforcement using DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols has proven to lower the number of people killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-impaired crashes.

The artwork is by Elyse Campus Cohen, an artist simply known as Elyse, who has gained an international reputation for her luminous watercolors, particularly her close-up, textured, dappled images of flowers.
 

Mission Viejo residents are invited to a fun and friendly evening with OC Toasters at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at Delizie's Restaurant, 25380 Marguerite Parkway. 

Along with enjoying free appetizers, guests will have the chance to participate in a "Table Topic" game and learn how Toastmasters helps people become better speakers and leaders.
