Mission Viejo residents are encouraged to brighten their neighborhoods by competing in the Annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest. Homes must be decorated and applications submitted to the Mission Viejo Activities Committee by 5 pm on Friday, December 2.

Homes will be judged based on categories including Most Creative Use of Lights; Most Creative Theme; Most Traditional/Festive; New Kids on the Block; Showstopper; and Light Up Your Neighborhood Award.

Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the annual Gifts & Goodies Holiday Boutique Saturday, November 19 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Hosted by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee, this daylong holiday shopping extravaganza is from 8 am to 5 pm at 24932 Veterans Way.

With a longtime reputation as one of the best boutiques in South Orange County, the boutique boasts talented local artisans displaying handcrafted items perfect for holiday decorating, gifts and ornaments. 

Save the date for Brunch with Santa Sunday, December 11 at Oso Creek Golf Course. This spectacular holiday event takes place at 10 am and 12:30 pm at 27601 Casta Del Sol.

Families will enjoy taking photos with St. Nick on a golf cart; decorating a Christmas cookie; making a holiday ornament as well as the talents of strolling carolers.

The delicious fare includes a grand buffet with omelet, carving and dessert stations.

Cost is $89.95 for adults and $39.95 for kids ages 5-12, plus tax and gratuity. Children 4 and under are free.

The City of Mission Viejo’s annual Veterans Day observance takes place Friday, November 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center. 

The Council on Aging HICAP program is providing one-on-one personal counseling by trained volunteers to assist Mission Viejo seniors in choosing their health plan for the 2023 Medicare Open Enrollment. 

This longtime service is part of the City's ongoing efforts to provide Mission Viejo's older population with a bevy of beneficial programs, services and resources. 

Appointments are offered from 9 am to 3 pm Wednesday, November 16 and 30 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.  

The City Council on Tuesday, October 25 will consider awarding a contract to purchase and build EV charging stations at the Civic Center -- as part of an effort to accommodate and promote the use of electric vehicles, which reduce harmful emissions and benefit the environment.

The winners of the Halloween and Fall Home Decorating Contest have been announced, so grab your family and hop in your car for a spooky good time.

Hosted by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee, the contest featured residents competing for forever bragging rights and recognition in categories that include Best Theme, Most Creative, Best Special Effects, Scariest and Pumpkin-Tastic.

The Planning and Transportation Commission on October 10 approved the demolition of the existing one-story 5,600-square-foot Orange County Fire Authority Station 24 building to make way for the construction of a two-story 14,455-square-foot station to replace it.

Mission Viejo Nadadores and USA Diving will host the USA Diving Junior National Championships at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex next summer.

The competition is set for July 24-August 2, 2023.

It's been more than 15 years since the junior nationals were held in California, the last time being in 2004. The competition is the most prestigious junior event USA Diving hosts featuring 600 top junior divers from across the country competing in three events and four age groups.

The City of Mission Viejo has launched new Facebook and Instagram pages dedicated to events at the North Paseo, 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

The Facebook page lists all events taking place at the North Paseo. Facebook users can easily add events to their calendar, share events with friends, share to their feed and more.
