Community Relations

The Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the chambers in Lake Forest and Rancho Santa Margarita to host a Tri-Chamber Mixer on February 27.

The mixer is from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club located at 26772 Avery Parkway.

The event gives professionals, business owners and others the chance to network and meet community and business leaders. Chamber members are free. General admission is $20.

Parents are invited to take part in the Parent Project that is designed to help children grow into safe and capable adults.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department and Saddleback Valley Unified School District team up to offer the 10-week program created for parents with strong-willed teens.

The program takes place Wednesday nights from 6 pm to 9 pm January 29 through March 31 at Los Alisos Intermediate School, 25171 Moor Ave.

If you’re a local history buff and even if you’re not, you won’t want to miss the first History Presentation on Mission Viejo of 2020.

Families with kids in grades K-12 are invited to the Capo Innovation Showcase on January 27.

Drop by Capistrano Valley High School anytime between 6-8 pm for a community open house, hands-on activities, innovative learning labs and breakout sessions in the showcase, which boasts a “Moving Full-Steam Ahead” theme.

The Orange County Registrar of Voters on Tuesday, January 7 will conduct a mock election in Mission Viejo to highlight the features of Vote Centers and Orange County’s new voting system.

The public is invited to learn about the benefits of the county’s transition to Vote Centers – including the ability to register to vote, cast an in-person ballot, obtain replacement ballots and more. In addition, voters will be able to cast a mock ballot on the new voting system.

As the City prepares for the upcoming holidays, the public should be aware of facility operating hours. Mission Viejo City Hall will be closed December 25 through January 1. City Hall at 200 Civic Center reopens at 8 am on January 2.

Trash and recycling will be delayed by one day for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Day, but police, fire and other essential emergency City services will not be impacted by the closure. In addition, Public Works will have an inspector on duty, so construction can continue.

Here's the scoop for other City facilities:

Boy Scout Troop #603 recently celebrated its 51st year in existence by collecting care packages for members of the military who are spending the holidays overseas.

The scouts, who are in grades 6-8, and their parents filled the 13 boxes with remnants of home and the holidays – special yummy treats, games and toiletries.

“During Christmas time, the focus is understandably on the children and sometimes service members overseas can get lost in the shuffle,” said Senior Patrol Leader Aidan McFann.
