The Orange County Business Journal honored Mission Viejo Investment Advisory Commissioner Elizabeth Pagliarini with a CFO of the Year Award. Hundreds of OC’s business community members recently celebrated the 13th annual CFO of the Year Awards at Hotel Irvine.

The City of Mission Viejo Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition and Orange County Health Care Agency are hosting a workshop on the Youth Vaping Epidemic and what parents must know.

The program is at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 19 at the Norman P. Murray Center, 24932 Veterans Way. 

The workshop will help parents:

Residents and businesses experiencing problems with any state agency can obtain help from Assemblyman Bill Brough’s District Office in Mission Viejo on February 19.

The mobile office is from 9:30-11:30 am at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

From unemployment to licensing and assistance with the DMV, Assemblyman Bill Brough’s staff can help in resolving an array of issues.

Mark your calendar for a delightful evening of music and dance with the talented Anne Walsh on Saturday, February 8.

Anne is currently touring nationally and internationally with vocal performances at the Long Beach Carpenter Center, McKinney Theatre and various clubs including Spaghettini’s Jazz Club.  Beginning at 7 pm at the Norman P. Murray Center, the “Romantic Bosa Nova Evening” with Anne promises to take the audience on a trip to Brazil.  Bring your valentine and be ready to dance.  Tickets are $20 and are available at the door.

When you purchase your Girl Scout cookies this year, take a close look at the box before digging in. Gracing the Thin Mints and Shortbread boxes is Mission Viejo resident Trinity Brewer who was dubbed a “Cookie Selling Pro” by the Girl Scouts USA for selling more than 10,000 boxes of the sweet treats.

With the sweeping changes to voting this year, you have more options to cast your ballot.

The one case of coronavirus that was confirmed in Orange County was a person who traveled to the Chinese city of Wuhan, identified as the center of the outbreak. The patient is generally reported to be in good condition and was hospitalized in isolation for monitoring.

Parents of teens are invited to an essential Town Hall meeting on February 4, designed to educate people about the reality of teen dating violence.

Led by Laura’s House and hosted by the City, the Town Hall – “What Your Teens Don’t Want You to Know: Exploring the Trends in Unhealthy Adolescent Relationships” – is from 7-8:30 pm at Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The City of Mission Viejo is joining people from near and far in commemorating the Holocaust on January 27 – and in the spring with a special event and exhibit from the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Israel.

If you know a Mission Viejo resident who has made a substantial difference in the lives of others, consider nominating that special person for our annual Wall of Recognition.

This special program was created several years ago to recognize folks who have contributed extraordinary, lasting and highly significant service to our community. To qualify, the individual’s service must have been performed here in Mission Viejo or can be demonstrated to have directly benefited our City.
