In honor of National Youth Sports Day Saturday, November 13, the City is celebrating the designation by sharing community sports opportunities and some great perks for youth 17 and younger.   

National Youth Sports Day (NYSD) promotes the importance and benefits of youth sports - most critically to help achieve the nation's health and well-being goals.

The winter issue of Mission Viejo Life is now online, offering the community detailed information about upcoming special events and exciting programs and classes that span the next few months. 

With 2021 coming to an end, now's the time to share holiday spirit through the Annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest. 

Mission Viejo residents are encouraged to brighten their neighborhoods by competing in the annual lighting contest. Homes must be decorated and applications submitted to the Mission Viejo Activities Committee by 5 pm on December 3.

The City of Mission Viejo Community Services Commission is inviting residents to a special Neighborhood Meeting on Monday, November 8 to learn about the proposed athletic field lighting improvement project at Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park. 

Enjoy holiday music for children of all ages presented by "Sierra: An Acoustic Experience." Keep your eyes open to see some of Santa's special friends from the North Pole. Santa will arrive atop of a fire engine at 6 pm and will help ring in the spirit of the season by turning on the holiday lights in Mission Viejo.

Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the annual Gifts & Goodies Holiday Boutique Saturday, November 20 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Hosted by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee, this daylong holiday shopping extravaganza is from 8 am to 5 pm at 24932 Veterans Way.

With a longtime reputation as one of the best boutiques in South Orange County, the boutique boasts talented artisans displaying handcrafted items perfect for holiday decorating, gifts and ornaments. 

Make the holidays brighter for some families of our City's adopted Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division through the annual Adopt-a-Marine program.

Drum roll please "¦ and the winners of the City's 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest are:

The City of Mission Viejo's annual Veterans Day ceremony is at 2 pm on Thursday, November 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center. 

The public ceremony includes comments by Colonel Seth W.B. Folsom, commanding officer of the Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division, and retired Army Captain Nick Saifan. The event also features a vocal performance by Philip Bardowell as well as a color guard, rifle salute and taps . The ceremony will feature sign language interpretation.
