Committees

Activities Committee

The Mission Viejo Activities Committee is made up of Mission Viejo residents and business owners who work together to make the community a better place to live, work and play. The committee is a non-profit, volunteer, civic organization that promotes and carries out community service activities for the benefit of the citizens of Mission Viejo. The group of volunteers has duly elected officers and subcommittees to plan, promote and facilitate each of the many annual functions. Any resident or businessperson within the City of Mission Viejo or the surrounding area is welcome to join and participate. There are no dues or fees. To join, download an application and email it to mvac@cityofmissionviejo.org. You can also bring the completed form to the Norman P. Murray Center.

Community of Character Committee & Teen Sub-Committee

The purpose of the Community of Character Committee is to provide opportunities to become involved in promoting good character in our City, as well as to offer experience in leadership and event planning for our students. The Committee is comprised of both adults and students (7th grade through high school). Members plan activities for many of our City events, as well as developing several programs and activities each year. Committee membership offers the opportunity to serve and volunteer in Mission Viejo in a fun and rewarding way! Meetings are the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month from 5:00 to 6:00 in the Saddleback Room at City Hall. Cultural Arts Committee

The Cultural Arts Committee was established by the City Council in 1992 to promote and foster knowledge, enjoyment and appreciation of the performing, literary and visual arts through community interaction with the arts, in order to strengthen the quality of life in Mission Viejo. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Committee, print the City of Mission Viejo Committee Interest Form and bring it to your first meeting.

Heritage Committee

The City of Mission Viejo Heritage Committee was formed in 1992 and is comprised of local residents who meet monthly and volunteer to help the City of Mission Viejo preserve its rich history. The Heritage Committee researches historical sites and makes recommendations for monuments or markers and plans programs and activities to share historical information with the public. 

Local history enthusiasts aged 15 and older are invited to fill out the committee interest form for more information. If you are interested in joining the Committee, print the City of Mission Viejo Committee Interest Form and bring it to your first meeting.

Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee

On March 20, 2006, the City of Mission Viejo City Council formally adopted the Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division stationed out of Camp Pendleton, to show their support for the Marines and their families. Soon after, a committee was formed comprised of representatives from the community, the City, and the adopted Battalion, and aptly named the Mission Viejo Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee.

Senior Leadership Committee DBA - Friends of the Murray Center

The purpose of the Senior Leadership Committee is to provide information and recommendations to the Community Services Commission relating to: Services as they affect the welfare of senior citizens within Mission Viejo. The promotion of senior citizen services within Mission Viejo. Input received from the community regarding senior citizen programs, needs, or services. Facility needs at the Norman P. Murray Senior Center and other facilities other than the Norman P. Murray Senior Center. Facility needs of senior citizens as they relate to Parks and Recreation Centers.
