The City Council on Tuesday, Dec. 13 selected Wendy Bucknum to serve as Mayor and Ed Sachs as Mayor Pro Tem during its annual reorganization.
This is the first mayoral position for Wendy Bucknum, who was elected in 2014 and spent this year serving as Mayor Pro Tem. Ed Sachs was also elected to the City Council in 2014.
Have you noticed the newly resurfaced basketball courts at Curtis, Pacific Hills and Melinda parks? The work was done by the City's Public Services Department, which regularly resurfaces basketball courts at Mission Viejo's many parks to provide year-round enjoyment for people of all ages.
Resurfacing the courts keeps the playing surfaces vivid and attractive and adds a slip-resistant surface.

Don't miss a free screening of the holiday classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on Sunday, December 18 at Mission Viejo City Hall.
The event, which begins at 2 p.m., is sponsored by the City's Community of Character Committee and coincides with December's character trait of "caring."
Directed by Ron Howard and starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch, the movie is highly entertaining while teaching valuable lessons about caring and the spirit of the holidays.
