Mission Viejo

Calling all teenagers! If you’re ready for hands-on fun with new technology, then register today for the “Teen Pop-Up MakerSpace: Tech Petting Zoo” program July 18 at the Mission Viejo Library.

Four Mission Viejo City staffers are being credited with saving the life of a man who suffered a heart attack at the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion.

On July 1, longtime City staffer Sam Cho was playing tennis with a 74-year-old member of the Tennis Pavilion when the man suddenly went into cardiac arrest.

Don't miss the 2nd annual Adult Spelling Bee this Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Saddleback Room at 200 Civic Center, just across from the library.  Doors open at 5 p.m.

A brass quintet will entertain folks before and after the event, and guests will be treated to a reception in the Kershaw Garden following the spelling bee.

With excessive heat in the forecast this weekend, the City of Mission Viejo is encouraging residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. The Mission Viejo Library at 100 Civic Center; Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way; and Marguerite Tennis Pavilion at 27474 Casta Del Sol all serve as comfortable cooling centers for folks to beat the heat.

To stay safe during extreme heat, remember the following tips:

Energy, melody and a distinctively tight rock rhythm. The House of Rock has been blistering Southland venues for more than 7 years. On Saturday, July 22, they will rock the house during Mission Viejo’s Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event.

The City of Mission Viejo is seeking caring, concerned citizens to join its new Drug Prevention Coalition.

The coalition is for people interested in learning about current drug trends and challenges facing our community who will work to prevent the spread of drug addiction and dependency.  The City and local support group Solace of Orange County are teaming up for this effort.

Are you ready to enjoy summer Mission Viejo style? Yes, then register today for three fun events designed to build community.

First up is the Family Fun Night on Saturday, July 15 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Montanoso Recreation and Fitness Center.

If you’re a fitness professional looking for an exciting new adventure, we want YOU!

The City of Mission Viejo is seeking energetic certified fitness and aqua aerobics instructors to lead an array of classes at its recreation centers such as Aqua Aerobics, boot camp, yoga and more.

The City of Mission Viejo is still seeking accepting applications for its annual Community Services Funding Program.  Funds are available for nonprofit organizations serving Mission Viejo residents. Organizations that provide human services are encouraged to apply today at https://cityofmissionviejo.org/community-services-funding.
