The Mission Viejo community is rallying behind longtime trainer Jadon Pollard who suffered a stroke last Saturday.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team will epitomize its motto of "Life without a limb is limitless" when it competes against an Orange County team on Sunday, March 25 at the Saddleback College baseball stadium. The mission of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team is to inspire and educate others while enhancing the health and welfare of wounded warrior amputees.

DUI saturation patrols will be out in force from 7 p.m. Friday, March 10 through 3 a.m. Saturday, March 11 in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and arrests in Mission Viejo and Lake Forest.

DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols help lower the number of people killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-impaired crashes.

Two-time Grammy-winning guitar sensation Laurence Juber will make a special appearance in the Lord of the Strings concert on Saturday, March 11.

The concert is at 7 p.m. in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Mason Emes has what it takes to be an Eagle Scout: determination, character and leadership skills.

Mason of Troop #772 recently demonstrated those traits by organizing some 15 volunteers - including Mayor Wendy Bucknum and Council Member Trish Kelley - to plant 800 drought-tolerant plants along the Oso Creek Trail near the Village Green.

Mason's project puts him line to obtain the highest ranking available in the boy scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. The City of Mission Viejo is grateful for his outstanding efforts.

With baseball season on tap, the public is invited to a screening of the inspiring classic feature film "The Natural" on Sunday, March 19 at Mission Viejo City Hall.

The event, which begins at 2 p.m., is sponsored by the City's Community of Character Committee and was selected to illustrate March's character trait of integrity.
