Acting County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau gave the green light for reopening more industries in Orange County including movie theaters, hotels and shopping malls. 

While more businesses reopen, the new health order in effect today strongly recommends most residents wear a cloth face covering outside their homes when unable to physically distance themselves by six feet.

The Planning and Transportation Commission gave the green light this week for a new gastropub to serve beer and wine at its restaurant off Jeronimo Road.

When it opens at 25522 Jeronimo Road (next to Sonic Burger), Wursthaus will feature an array of handmade sausages including alligator and rattlesnake as well as waffles, pretzels, Belgium fries and a big selection of German and Belgian beers.

Demolition is underway on the Shea Homes development at the former Mission Foothill Center on Los Alisos Boulevard.  Heavy bulldozing equipment was moved onsite this week after a few weeks of preparation. Demolition is expected to be finished by mid-January with grading and underground utility work following suit. Shea expects to pull building permits for the model homes in June and celebrate the grand opening in November 2020. 

The County of Orange and City of Mission Viejo are inviting residents to the Fair Housing Workshop at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 9 in the Saddleback Room at the Civic Center.

The workshop will cover the "Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing" process and how it contributes to advancing fair housing opportunities for all county residents. Community members can share their thoughts on existing fair housing barriers and help form housing goals and priorities.

Nerdy by Nature Escape Room 

The City's Planning Commission recently approved an application to permit an "escape room" entertainment business to locate in the Alicia Business Center at 24002 Via Fabricante, Suite 206. Nerdy by Nature Escape Room will provide a fun, inquisitive, and challenging experience and will test your resourcefulness and team building skills to escape a simulated precarious situation.  Stay tuned for an opening date sometime this summer.
