Tennis fans listen up! Don’t miss the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion’s “Spook-tacular” Halloween Mixer at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 22 at 27474 Casta Del Sol.

Sport your favorite costume for the chance to win a prize and enjoy a free tennis clinic during the social. (No partners required.) The social gives community members a chance to enjoy the facility, learn about our tennis programs and meet new people.

If you haven’t signed up for our Scarecrow Contest yet, don’t fret. The deadline for nonprofit organizations to take part in this first annual contest has been extended by a week.

Are you ready to take a spin? The Montanoso Recreation Center is inviting you to hop on its new spin bikes during this free Demo Week through October 1.

The center’s new spin options will help you get in shape, feel the burn and see results quick. This 45-minute high-performance cardiovascular and strength-training workout will be offered in the morning and night throughout the week, so there’s no excuse to miss.

Do those hay-stuffed figures that are placed in fields to keep fowl and fauna out ever appear in Mission Viejo? You bet. Every Halloween, scarecrows become standard lawn décor but this year, they will take over Mission Viejo.

The City will place more than 50 scarecrows in public places throughout the community and is seeking nonprofit organizations – churches, scouts, schools and charities – to make a scarecrow for the chance to win a cash prize courtesy of the Friends of the Arts.

IT’S YOUR MONEY SERIES
This series offers objective education about your money including fixed-income investments, annuities, mutual funds and long-term care insurance. It takes place Thursdays at 10 a.m. through October 26. Reference course #5550 when registering at cityofmissionviejo.org/register.

The October 6 deadline is quickly approaching for your chance to nominate a hero for Male and Female Veterans of the Year.  These are folks who bravely served our country and continue to serve our community by giving back. Indeed, they are heroes.

We launched this program in 2011 to celebrate local veterans from all wars and conflicts. Since then, veteran honorees have been recognized during our annual Veterans Day ceremony.
