Mission Viejo

The City, through a grant with OCTA, began "Connecting Mission Viejo" with the MV Shuttle in October 2016, and the FREE shuttle has been growing in popularity ever since.

We are now exploring options for expanding the MV Shuttle program into other parts of the community and we need your feedback. Your participation is essential for ensuring the routes arising from this study are truly reflective of the needs and priorities of the Mission Viejo community.  Please take a few moments to complete the survey now.

If you have a green thumb and even if you don't, this new free gardening lecture series is perfect for you.

Led by OC Master Gardeners, this monthly series will teach you valuable tips for producing a vibrant garden - whether you're new to growing or a seasoned expert.

Do you have an eye for photography? If so, enter your two best photographic images for the chance to win prizes and display your work at the Mission Viejo Library.

The 2017 Photographers' Exhibit, sponsored by the Cultural Arts Committee and Mission Viejo Friends of the Arts, is calling on residents of all ages to submit images that will be judged in the following categories: best originality; use of color; composition; black and white; use of technology; and images submitted by photographers 17 and younger.

Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now available for the 7th annual Marine golf tournament - "Tee It Up Fore Marines" - on Friday, October 13.

Hosted by the Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee and Mission Viejo Community Foundation, the event benefits members of the City's adopted Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division.

The tournament includes 18 rounds of golf with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. at the pristine Marine Memorial Golf Course in Camp Pendleton.

The community is invited to commemorate Memorial Day during a special ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 29 at the Mission Viejo Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

Marine Corps Colonel Andrew Bergen will serve as the keynote speaker, discussing the importance of remembering the people who died while serving in our country's armed forces. He will be joined by Vietnam veteran Frans VandenBroek, a Purple Heart recipient and local resident.

James Chotkevys is a leader. He proved that last Saturday when he organized about 25 volunteers – including Mission Viejo Mayor Wendy Bucknum and City Manager Dennis Wilberg – to help him complete an ambitious planting project.

James is a member of Boy Scout Troop #772 and has his sights set on Eagle, the highest rank attainable in the boy scouting program.  For his Eagle Scout project, James led those faithful volunteers in planting nearly 600 one- and five-gallon drought-tolerant plants along the Oso Creek Trail near the Village Green.

Twelve teenagers from Kiwanis Key Club were showered with hugs and smiles this past weekend while helping 45 adults with developmental and other disabilities bowl at Saddleback Lanes.

This annual community event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo is an outreach program for the folks enrolled in Vocational Visions' job placement or life skills training programs.

The adults relish the opportunity to spend a day with local teens and Kiwanis Club members.
