August is National Immunization Awareness Month

Just like us, it is important for our pets to stay up-to-date on their vaccines and immunizations. After all, pets are members of our families and they need our help when it comes to wellness.

If your pet comes into contact with an infected animal, whether it is wild or an unvaccinated pet, your pet can be exposed to many different illnesses. We encourage pet owners to keep their dogs and cats current on their immunizations. Pet vaccinations are crucial in protecting your furry friends from the most common pet illnesses. Without proper vaccinations, pets are left vulnerable to preventable ailments that can devastate their respiratory, gastrointestinal and immune systems.

Consult with your veterinarian for advice on which and when vaccinations should be administered. The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center conducts public low-cost animal vaccination and microchip clinics for pet owners in Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and Laguna Hills on a quarterly basis.

Our next clinic is on August 13 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the center. For more information and costs, visit www.cmvas.org.
