First Annual Virtual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest Fundraiser

Even though we were unable to hold the annual DAWG Walk & Adoption Extravaganza Event for the first time in 25 years due to COVID-19, the Pet Costume Contest went virtual on Halloween Day!

This exciting virtual fundraising included photos of pets dressed in costumes by their owners, who donated at least $25 to DAWG. The most creative, adorable Howl-O-Ween pet picture in each category won a prize valued at $200.

Prizes included dinner for two at a local restaurant and a gift certificate from Chewy.com and Hala’s Paws.

The top contestants were live-streamed on a special Halloween Day event on the City's YouTube channel. Mayor Goodell and Mayor Pro Tem Kelley took part in this great cause.

The winner for the “Other” category was “Sam Rockwell.” His owner Michelle adopted the red-eared slider from our shelter in July. He is a voracious eater and loves mealworms.

The winner of the “Cat” category was “Taco Tuesday.” His owner Meg said Taco Tuesday is 3 years old, comes when you call his name and enjoys dressing as everyone's favorite Tuesday dinner.

The winner for the “Dog” category was “Gigi.” Her owner Tracy adopted Gigi from our shelter six years ago when the dog was 6 years old. She loves walks in the park every day where she visits with her friends.

The event was extremely successful, with all funds directly benefiting the homeless animals at our shelter.
