Rescue Roundup - June 2020
Earlier this year, we received a call from one of our rescue partners needing assistance. The organization had just received a pregnant purebred boxer from a homeless encampment near the border of Mexico. This beautiful white boxer was about to give birth at any moment. With the assistance of DAWG, the center welcomed the dog with open arms. One of our amazing foster moms took her in; however, within two days, she went into labor without success. The mother dog Melody was so anemic and weak that she could not deliver on her own. After a successful emergency C-section, six beautiful boxer mix puppies were born. Since she was so sick, she could not nurse the puppies, so the foster stepped in and bottle-fed all six. Mom Melody was subsequently adopted out to a lovely family. Out of the six pups, the foster favorite was named Kobe. He was the smallest and shyest of the litter but was extremely sweet. He was adopted to a lovely couple who give us updates regularly. You can see from the photos that he is no longer a little puppy. Winston, as he is now called, is smart and keeps up with the other two dogs in the household. We're sure all the puppies in this litter are spoiled just like Winston!
