Staff Spotlight - Alison Nieves
Meet Animal Services Representative Alison Nieves.
Alison began working at our center in February 2010 as a part-time licensing representative. Before working at the center, she worked at OC Animal Care for 16 years. She also worked for a year with the County of Orange Auditor-Controller but missed working in an animal shelter environment. Before her career in animal services, Alison worked in a hair salon for four years and still holds her cosmetology license today.
Alison grew up in the City of Orange and has always had a love for animals. When she was a child, she had parakeets, cockatiels, hamsters, dogs, cats and even two pet rats, Minnie and Daisy. Alison is a diehard pug lover and has owned pugs for more than 25 years. About a year ago, she adopted a French bulldog named Loki that is giving the pug breed some stiff competition.
Alison married in 1994 and moved to the City of Mission Viejo. Her daughter Rachel has been a shelter volunteer for more than six years.
When not working, Alison enjoys reading, spending time with her family and taking her dogs to pug and Frenchie playdates or fundraisers such as "Pugs and Prosecco."
Alison truly enjoys working for our department.
"I take pride in working for a department that makes such a positive impact in the community," she said. "It is very rewarding to be a part of such a great team."
