Success Story - Georgie
I headed over to the Mission Viejo Shelter the day after my sweet 16-year old dog was put to sleep. While I was going through extremely severe grief, I was ready to start the search for my new best friend to help fill the void. I was looking for a fairly small dog and found myself intrigued by the Terrier mix dog known as "Atticus." Although his info card included the phrase "very active," I was curious to observe just how active that was. He seemed to be a very happy, energetic little dog but I was entertained by his enthusiasm and joy as he ran around playing with all the yard toys. When a volunteer encouraged me to take an application, I did, and found myself returning the next day for another visit and to hand in my application. Since I had previously been to two other shelters, this little Terrier mix was the one who got my attention. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in making the adoption happen and even provided me with a small crate to transport my new little friend in for the trip home. I have re-named this little guy "Georgie," and he began to respond to that name just 2 days later! Georgie has definitely displayed lots of energy but has settled in and quieted down more than I expected. After almost two weeks since we met, Georgie and I have definitely bonded, and he has become a successful addition to my life. I am grateful for the companionship and love he gives me. Thank you, MV Shelter!
