Success Story - Wookie (Update)
I wanted to let you and the crew know that I did the DNA test thing that was offered in the kit that you all provide when you adopt a dog. Wookie is a Malamoodle! Half Alaskan Malamute & Half Poodle. Makes total sense now that I've got to know him and when you look at him his face and tail tell the story of the Alaskan Malamute.
He is so well trained. His "trick repertoire" has expanded as we've learned more about him. He can sit, lay down, roll over, play dead, shake hands and give you five (he slaps his paw on your palm 3 times.. it's hilarious!). Of course, he can heal when on leash. He is very well house trained. He is stone deaf. Can't hear a thing. Ha. So all of his tricks are by hand signal or pointing one's finger. He can open any door - any. So we have to lock the doors when we go in and out even into the garage as he can open them.
His separation anxiety has improved tremendously as he comes to trust me and Mom more. He's a very good car rider. He's a cuddler and can't wait at night until I sit in the comfy chair so he can jump up and share the chair with Roxanne and I. He gets along so well with Roxanne - she's alpha - and he's fine with that. It's funny to watch a 15 lb miniature schnauzer boss him around but she bosses all of us so no surprise there!
He's very vocal (barks!) when he wants to eat or go for a walk or play. He's an amazing.
Thank you again to the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter for our Wookie and for the great care that the rescue group funded for him. Attached is a photo of him now.
