Volunteers of the month - April 2023
Our volunteers of the month are our father-and-son team Mike and Brad Kelly.
Mike and Bradley started volunteering at the center in September 2022 because they love all animals. They started as greeters for the center greeting and directing visitors and moved on to work with the small animals in our care. Mike and Bradley are dependable and committed to the bunnies and guinea pigs. They enjoy socializing them and making sure they are cozy and have lots of toys to keep them entertained after they leave.
Mike and Bradley believe that giving back to the community is important and enjoy working with the animals and love seeing them adopted into good homes.
"We feel fortunate to work with the very professional and friendly staff that are always willing to help or answer questions," said Mike.
They love all the pets at the shelter but if they had to choose a favorite pet, they would pick Tasha.
"She is so excited just to get a quick pet before we head across the lawn to take care of the small critters," Mike said.
Bradley and Mike enjoy the great outdoors. They hike, mountain bike, and run. They run more than 100 miles a month and completed a one-day hike in the Grand Canyon. They also enjoy volunteering for OC Parks as backcountry patrol.
Mike and Bradley are wonderful additions to our volunteer team, and we are fortunate to have them.
