Grateful for our longtime volunteer's vast contributions

Megan Sommers has donated her time for 17 years to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center as a dog walker. Volunteering with animals has always been a passion for Megan, who has volunteered at each local animal shelter where she has lived. She says her favorite part of volunteering with the animals here at the center has been seeing the change that occurs from the time they come in to the time they find their forever homes. When asked if there was a moment or memory that stands out for her, Megan said it was the time she raised the most money for the DAWG Walk, our annual fundraiser for the homeless animals at the shelter.

Megan has been a school teacher for 20 years. Along with guiding her students academically, she has taught them to love, respect and care for animals. Every year, she encourages her students to give back and the response is tremendous.

Megan and her husband have decided it is time for change and are moving to Colorado this summer. They have always loved Colorado and are very exited about this new adventure. We will truly miss Megan's positive go-getter attitude and warm smile. We are all sad to see her go but are happy to know that homeless animals in her new community will benefit from her love and care.
