Rabbit Care Volunteer Description and Duties
Program Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work a three hour shift weekly, and provide a one year commitment.
- A valid tetanus vaccine record is required within 30 days.
- Must be physically able to handle a rabbit that can weigh up to 15 pounds.
- Must be physically be able to squat multiple times throughout the shift.
- Ability to interact with animals safely.
- Ability to recognize abnormalities in animal behavior and health.
Process:
- Must attend a interview, volunteer orientation and training session (training provided)

Purpose:
- Assist in rabbit care and cleaning at the shelter
- Assist in educating the public about responsible pet ownership, and help potential pet owners in the selection and adoption of a new pet.
Duties:
- Socialize and exercise the rabbits
- Clean rabbit hutches, bedding, litter boxes and food bowls
- Provide fresh food and water for the rabbits
- Notify kennel attendants of any health or behavior issues noticed
