Registration is now available for the City of Mission Viejo’s spring Lifeguard Training Courses at the Montanoso Recreation Center.

The classes teach folks the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants will receive American Red Cross certification in lifeguard training, first aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer. The training is valid for two years.

Have you heard of the Caring Fairies? These magical beings will return to the region along the Oso Creek Trail on April 28.

The Caring Fairies, who made their debut a couple of years ago on Laguna Niguel's Aliso Summit Trail, were recently spotted flying around and exploring the Oso Creek Trail.

As part of the Sheriff's Department's Stay Safe OC program and "Be the Key, Lock it Up," tagline, Mission Viejo Police Services is reminding residents to take the following precautions to enjoy safe spring and summer seasons:

1. Always keep residential doors and windows locked when you go to bed or leave your house, even if you are leaving for a short period.

2. Keep garage doors closed when you're not in or around the garage area. Lock all doors leading to your garage at night and when you're away from home.

The City of Mission Viejo and Orange County Sheriff’s Department will take part in National Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28 as part of an ongoing effort to prevent drug abuse and theft.

Get ready to make a splash during the Grand Re-Opening of the Marguerite Aquatics Complex this Saturday, April 7.

Along with Olympic-style pageantry, the event will give families the chance to enjoy the newly renovated pools with fun games, competitions and recreational swimming throughout the day.

The public is invited to enjoy the feature film "The Longest Day" on Sunday, April 15 at Mission Viejo City Hall.  The movie, which starts at 2 p.m., will be the 100th film in the City's free movie series. 

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline will delight fans when she presents her latest thriller "After Anna" in Mission Viejo on April 10 - the book's publishing release date. Join Lisa at a celebratory VIP reception at 6 p.m. to commemorate this special occasion!

If you have a passion for all things roses, then make plans for the Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain's next meeting on Monday, April 9.

Featuring professional garden designer David Bassani, the public meeting is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Santa Margarita Water District, 26111 Antonio Parkway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

David of Bassani Greenscapes will offer practical insights on rose garden design including lighting, companion plants and watering.

Ushering in a new chapter of Mission Viejo’s swimming and diving legacy, the City will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the Marguerite Aquatics Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7.

The event will feature a cornucopia of activities including Olympians Greg Louganis, Rowdy Gaines and our own Brian Goodell. Opening ceremonies start at 10 a.m.
