While the finish line draws near for the Marguerite Aquatics Complex renovation, momentum continues to build for the grand re-opening of this 45-year-old facility.

The April 7 re-opening will mark the return of the Nadadores swimming and diving club, which has called Mission Viejo home since 1968.

The Mission Viejo City Council on Tuesday, February 13 is expected to decide whether to transition from at-large to district-based council member elections during its fifth public hearing on the matter.

The public hearing begins at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

Two magnificent musicians return to the Mission Viejo stage on Saturday, January 27. That's when legendary acoustic guitarist Peppino D' Agostino and master violinist Carlos Reyes perform together for a special Lord of the Strings concert.
 
The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at Mission Viejo Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.
 

How much do you know about the early years of Mission Viejo? Local historian Bob Bunyan will give you the scoop during a special presentation on Sunday, January 28. 

History buffs and folks who want to learn more about our City’s roots should mark their calendars for the presentation that starts at 3 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber, 200 Civic Center.

High school students listen up: Registration is now available for our free College Workshop on Sunday, February 11.

The College Workshop is from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Saddleback Room (across from the Mission Viejo Library) at 200 Civic Center.

The City’s Drug Prevention Coalition is hosting an educational workshop on January 17 to address recreational marijuana and Proposition 64.

The workshop is at 6 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

Community members are invited to a free screening of the biographical film "Lion" on Sunday, January 21 in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.

Sponsored by the Mission Viejo Community of Character, the film event starts at 2 p.m. and coincides with this month's character trait of "perseverance."

"Lion" was released in 2016 and received six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress (Nicole Kidman) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
