The Mission Viejo resident and parolee suspected of robbing nine local retailers is set to appear in court on January 12.

The program begins at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.

If your nonprofit is looking for a new way to support the community this year, listen up! The City of Mission Viejo and Chamber of Commerce are expanding the annual Community Health Fair in March to include a 5K Fun Run and Children's Quarter and Half-Mile races. 

What this means for you is that 100% of the pre-registration fee goes to a nonprofit of the runner's choice. So, if you are involved with a Mission Viejo nonprofit and want to raise money the easy way, don't delay in contacting our Recreation & Community Services Department today at 949-470-3016. 

Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 17 when the City hosts its third Pickleball Round Robin Doubles Social  at the Sierra Recreation Center, 26887 Recodo Lane.

Do you know a Mission Viejo resident who has made a significant difference in the lives of others? If so, consider nominating that special person for our annual Wall of Recognition.

We created this program to recognize folks who have contributed extraordinary, lasting and highly significant service to our community. To qualify, the person's service must have been performed here in Mission Viejo or can be demonstrated to have directly benefited our City. 

With the first significant storm of the season predicted through Wednesday, we're reminding residents about our free sandbag service, designed to help protect properties from possible flooding. 

Sandbags are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through April on a first-come, first-served basis. Bags are pre-filled and are limited to 10 bags per resident. You can pick-up sandbags throughout the City at the following self-serve locations:

Multi-certified fitness trainer and researcher Michael Blanchard is leading a special seminar dubbed “Understanding the Science of a Results-Based Workout” from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This free Star Wars Trivia program is from noon to 2 p.m. in the City Hall Saddleback Room, just across from the library at 200 Civic Center.
