Do you have a passion for giving back?  Consider joining Mission Viejo’s Community of Character Committee – designed to provide opportunities for youth and adults to promote good character in our City.

Throughout this month, committee members are demonstrating the character quality of “caring” by fundraising for Relay For Life and adopting two teenage boys from Family Assistance Ministries’ Adopt-a-Family program.

Just after the New Year, the Mission Viejo Library will begin offering a new free program designed to help folks interested in becoming naturalized U.S. citizens.

Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is granted to a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Book lovers rejoice! Fun and engaging Penguin Random House representatives Wade Lucas and Steve Atinsky will discuss the newest book releases for avid readers, book-club groups and holiday gifts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5 in the City Hall Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

This free event includes a lively discussion, pre-publication book giveaways and light refreshments. In addition, Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore will be on hand offering free gift-wrapping for any new books that you buy.

Tickets are available for the 2nd annual Friends’ Holiday Tea featuring bestselling author Lisa See on Sunday, December 3.

A fundraising event benefiting the Mission Viejo Library, the tea is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fairhaven Memorial Community Room at 27856 Center Drive.

Lisa See will discuss her thrilling New York Times bestseller “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane.”
