The countdown is officially underway to the 2018 Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event on Saturday, July 28.
Boasting the spectacular Pacific Symphony Orchestra, this annual City tradition is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Oso Viejo Community Park on the Village Green and neighboring Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The City's Heritage House was established in 2003 to educate folks about our rich history. Formerly a Mission Viejo Company new-home sales center, the house once attracted prospective buyers seeking their dream home. Today, it's where visitors come to learn about the people and events that made Mission Viejo "The California Promise."

Tyler Hughes is in line for the highest ranking in the scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America after completing a planting project that beautified the area.
For his Eagle Scout project, Tyler and nearly 50 volunteers spent a recent Saturday installing new sodded turf grass at the Sierra Recreation Center.

Hundreds of elite athletes are gearing up for the annual Orange County Triathlon-Duathlon on Sunday, June 3 at Lake Mission Viejo.
This Olympic-distance event traverses Mission Viejo neighborhoods and surrounding communities and includes a 1.5K swim in Lake Mission Viejo. Athletes then ride along the 40K bike course through Santiago Canyon, with part of the race crossing the 1984 Olympic finish line near the lake. With challenging paths, trails and streets, the 10K tests the runners’ stamina and agility.
Get ready for a sensational show Saturday, June 16 featuring two world-renowned slackers who are anything but, well, slackers.
Lord of the Strings will present "Slackers in Paradise" with Jim Kimo West and Ken Emerson, living legends in the world of Hawaiian slack key and acoustic steel guitar. The concert is at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center Drive.

Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host two blood drives on Thursday, June 7 and Thursday, August 9 from 2-8 p.m. at 26001 Muirlands. Childcare is available to donors between 3 and 5 p.m.

Petty Officer First Class Edward Smith will serve as the keynote speaker, discussing the importance of remembering the people who died while serving in our country's armed forces. He will be joined by Vietnam veteran Frank Pangborn, an author, actor, musician and Orange County Native.
