The City of Mission Viejo has launched a new free mobile app - MV Life - giving residents and visitors a convenient way to get more involved in the City.

Featuring information about City news, events, amenities, shopping, dining and recreation, the MV Life app is a valuable tool for residents and visitors alike. It's designed to enhance their experience in town and promote all the great things this vibrant south Orange County community offers.

The app is also part of an ongoing effort to improve connections and make City government more accessible to residents.

The City of Mission Viejo and AYSO Region 84 are teaming up to host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, November 21.

In honor of the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the blood drive is from noon to 6 p.m. in the Saddleback Room at the Mission Viejo Civic Center at 200 Civic Center.

A sought-after pop/vocal jazz band that has graced the world's biggest stages will perform a special concert in Mission Viejo on Saturday, November 19.

The Black Market Trust will perform at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at the Mission Viejo Civic Center.

The Black Market combines the sounds of great American crooners and vocal groups with the romantic Eastern European gypsy fire of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.

Nine students from three local high schools were recognized this week by the Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo.

The following students were feted for displaying leadership, academic excellence and community volunteerism.  The recognition is part of the Kiwanis Club's efforts to support and foster the education and success of local students.

Mission Viejo voters elected Trish Kelley and Brian Goodell into office Tuesday, according to the "unofficial" results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

When sworn in on December 13, the City Council candidates will fill the seats of Council Member Cathy Schlicht and Mayor Frank Ury. Council Member Schlicht lost her bid for re-election, while Mayor Ury terms out this year.

The public on Thursday is invited to a community workshop designed to establish a Vision Plan for the heart of Mission Viejo. The workshop is at 6:30 p.m. in the Saddleback Room at Mission Viejo City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

QiGong:  Wellness for Body and Mind with Cynthia Niermann

Qigong, the source of Tai Chi, is a gentle exercise system to increase and maintain strength, flexibility and balance.  Shorter routines are said to provide effective stress relief as well. This hour-long program is at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays November 2-30. It is open to people 16 and older. Cost is $30. 

In an effort to benefit the local environment, the City of Mission Viejo will reuse 2 million gallons of treated pool water from the Marguerite Aquatics Complex renovation project to irrigate its slopes, parks and medians.

Partners Bank of California is slated to host the next Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce mixer on November 17.  The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 160.

During mixers, guests can enjoy refreshments and the chance to network with local business leaders and elected officials. Chamber members get in free and general admission is $10.

George F. Locke will be honored as Mission Viejo's Veteran of the Year on Friday, November 11 during the City's annual Veterans Day ceremony at 2 p.m. inside the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center at 24932 Veterans Way.
