Tickets are now available for a special night of comedy to benefit a great cause. The "Stand-up for Texas Hurricane Relief" event is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 27 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
 

Are you ready to roll the dice with new friends from middle school? If so, mark your calendar for the November 10 Teen Scene GIANT game night at the Montanoso Recreation Center, 25800 Montanoso Drive.
 
This fun-filled evening is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and features music, snacks and games like Jenga, Dominos, Connect 4, Uno and others.
 

ATX CARDIAC MEDICAL LIFESTYLE PROGRAM
ATX Cardiac is a program to promote health and stress management. ATX Cardiac will improve respiratory function and circulation, increase balance, build strength and muscle tone and is a preventative measure for cardiovascular disease. The 1-hour program takes place at 10:30 a.m. October 13, 20 and 27 and November 2.
Cost is a $10 lab fee payable to instructor.  Reference course #5564 when registering.

Join Mayor Wendy Bucknum, City and business leaders in highlighting women in leadership and honoring local veterans during the State of the City event on Saturday, November 11.

Hosted by the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce, the event is at 6 p.m. at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club. Mayor Bucknum will give a report on the state of Mission Viejo, highlighting some past accomplishments and providing a glimpse at what's ahead in 2018.

The public is invited to a screening of the dramatic film "Forrest Gump" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 15 in the Council Chamber at Mission Viejo City Hall.

Sponsored by the Mission Viejo Community of Character Committee, the film presentation mirrors Mission Viejo's character trait of "respect."

"Forrest Gump" was released in 1994 and became the top-grossing film in North America that year. The movie won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing.

If you are seeking a fun way to give back, consider joining the planning team for the 2018 Relay For Life of Mission Viejo.

An Event Leadership Team Committee meeting is set for 6 p.m. on October 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Nick Charles, one of Australia's premier roots and blues fingerpickers, will grace the Mission Viejo stage in a special concert on Saturday, October 14.

Nick will appear at 7 p.m. in the Lord of the Strings concert in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

The Rose Society of Saddleback Mountains is inviting rose aficionados to its next meeting on Monday, October 9 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The meeting, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature Master Rosarian Kathy Monge, a longtime member of the Orange County Rose Society. She will discuss the benefits of raising earthworms and using worm castings in your garden.

Kathy has been growing roses for 20 years and has about 160 rose bushes. She enjoys creating arrangements, especially with her microminis.

The James Henry Ransom Foundation will host its first annual Memorial 5K run/walk & 1K family fun-run at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 7 on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park, 24932 Veterans Way.

Bravo TV's "Real Housewives of Orange County's" Tamra Judge, a friend of the Ransom family, will host a race warm-up with CUT Fitness, a gym she co-founded in Rancho Santa Margarita with husband Eddie Judge.
