Star Wars Day

Join us on May 4th from 2-4 pm at the Potocki Center for the Arts as the Library celebrates Star Wars Day. 

This fun, free event is open to all ages and will include Star Wars trivia, crafts, activities, game demos, photo ops with Star Wars characters, a community art showcase, and more!

Special Programs 

Math Challenge – 1pm [Sage Room]

Before the activities begin, start off your Star Wars Day adventures at 1pm with a fun, Star Wars-themed Math Challenge! This hour-long program will feature active discussions and participation for kids in grades 2 through 6 and includes challenging puzzles and word problems.

Kosuke Nishimori is a certified math teacher with over a decade of teaching experience. He currently runs Math Challenge classes through the ACE programs in Irvine Unified School District. To register, email libraryprograms@cityofmissionviejo.org 

Star Wars Trivia – 3pm [Sage Room]

The knowledge is strong with this one! Team up with or pit yourself against friends and family in the ultimate test of all things Star Wars. 

Cosplay Contest – 4pm [Sage Room]

Costumes encouraged! Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character and at the end of our event there’ll be a costume contest judged by loudest applause. 

 

Ongoing Activities – 2-4pm

Scavenger Hunt [Potocki Patio]

Choose your side! Find the Rebel Spies and turn them into the Empire for a reward or find the hidden Empire plans and deliver them to the Rebel Alliance for safekeeping! 

Star Wars Crafts [Potocki Patio]

Create a Star Wars bookmark, hosted by the Potocki Center for the Arts staff.

Star Wars Legion Game Demo [Potocki Patio]

Witness a live demonstration of how the popular tabletop game Star Wars Legion is played from some seasoned players. If you’ve ever been curious about how the game works or interested in playing, this is your chance! 

Photo Ops [Potocki Patio]

Meet characters from the Star Wars universe courtesy of the 501st Legion! They’ll be available for photo opportunities throughout the event.

Library Card Sign-Up [Potocki Patio]

Don’t already have a library card? Get one at the event! We’ll also have information available about some of the most popular programs and services that the Mission Viejo Library offers.

Community Art Showcase [Ruby Room]

Check out Star Wars-inspired artwork from local community members on display in the Sage room. 

 

Parking

Parking will be available in the lower lot at the Potocki Center, and overflow parking will also be available at Newhart Middle School, located at 25001 Veterans Way. The upper lot is reserved for Accessible parking and vendors. Signage will be posted, and please see the map below:
