Volunteer Opportunities at the Library
The Mission Viejo Library offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Please call Kathi Dickey, Volunteer Coordinator, at (949) 830-7100, ext. 8488 for more information about volunteering or download an application.
Benefits for Volunteers:
- Make new friends
- Learn new skills
- Provide valuable services
- Build a better community
- Make a difference!
Our volunteers are amazingly generous with their time! In the last year volunteers gave 19,133 hours of time and $462,636 worth of cost savings. Volunteers are a key component of our team that makes it possible for library services to be delivered at high quality standards. Here is a video that captures the leadership and dedication of our volunteers.
Adult Volunteer Opportunities (age 18 and older)
Homework Help Tutor
Adult Volunteer needed to assist in our Homework Help Program at the Mission Viejo Library each Wednesday during the academic year from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m. You will be helping elementary school students in a small group study setting with actual homework assignments. Our volunteer should have a background in education and teaching that prepares him/her to be comfortable with helping students in the basic elementary school subjects, with the majority of requests in mathematics. If you have this or a similar background, are interested in helping students, and are willing to complete a background check with fingerprints, please contact Vickie Sullivan for more information. Sessions will resume in the Fall.
Friends Bookstore volunteers are needed to cashier, assist customers, sort and price books, and to participate in our Amazon.com online book sale program. For online book sale program volunteers, computer experience is required.
Please note that the library is not currently accepting court-ordered volunteers.
