Bring your family and friends along for a journey exploring and celebrating one of the greatest legacies in literature.

Get the Austen Look!

Sunday, November 12 - 2:00pm; The Friends Storytime Room, Mission Viejo Library

Want to attend the Jane Austen Ball in Regency finery, but don’t have the pin-money for a custom ball gown? Learn how to fake a Regency outfit with a modern wardrobe at the Get the Austen Look program!

This free program will include styling tips, a thrift-flip demo, and a take home accessory craft. To register, email LibraryPrograms@cityofmissionviejo.org.

Jane Austen Trivia

Thursday, November 16 - 6:30pm; The Friends Storytime Room, Mission Viejo Library

It is a truth universally acknowledged that those in possession of great knowledge want to show it off. 

Team up with (or pit yourself against!) ‘lovers and friends’ in the ultimate test of all things Jane Austen. Costumes encouraged, but not required. Light refreshments provided!

This free event is for all ages.

Jane Austen Storytime

Saturday, December 2 - 2:00pm; The Friends Storytime Room, Mission Viejo Library

Introduce your children to the joys of Jane Austen in this fun and interactive special storytime. This event is for ages 3 and up. 

Pride and Penmanship, or Pens and Sensibility

Friday, December 8 - 5:30pm; The Friends Storytime Room, Mission Viejo Library

Join us for an evening of exploration into the lost art of letter writing a la Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” While not a calligraphy class, it is, rather, an opportunity to get into the habit of writing REAL letters, like they did in 1813. Pens and stationery will be provided.

Jane Austen Holiday Ball

Friday, December 15 - 6:30pm; The Sycamore Room, Norman P. Murray Center

Celebrate the holidays and Jane Austen’s birthday at a special ball. Enjoy historical dancing, crafts, and refreshments in your regency finery or festive attire. No prior dance experience is required.

This free event is for all ages.
